Somali Bantu Children’s Foundation
(SBCF)
Background and History:
Somali Bantu Children’s Foundation (SBCF) was founded in 1993 in response to the need for an emergency services to assisting thousands of Somali Bantu children treated and fed in five different feeding centers in Mogadishu the capital of Somalia. SBCF is an international initiative supported by Somali Bantu Communities outside the country. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for thousands of Somali Bantu children in Somalia and in refugee camps in Kenya. Each year, because of limited /or lack of fund, this organization helps small number of Somali Bantu children suffering from hungry, malnutrition, disease, injuries and birth defects of every kind.
For decades, Somalia has been plagued with military rebellion, civil war, man-made famine, poverty, corruption, decaying infrastructure, dictatorships, and foreign military interventions. It is our goal to alleviate the suffering of Somali Bantu Children through donations and volunteers efforts and by bringing awareness for those in need.
Your generosity, either corpo as a group or as an individual, can greatly benefit Somali Bantu children by developing educational programs to combat illiteracy, providing medical facilities to heal the sick, and the creating social programs to create hope.
Based on present social conditions, Somali Bantu children can only be expected to contribure so much to the global community as a whole. Representing a large percentage of the impoverished population in Somalia, many Somali Bantu children endure illiteracy, child labor, and high mortality rates.
The statistics are alarming:
10% of the child population in Somalia die before the age of 4
65% suffer from malnourishment and emotional/physical abuse
85% of the Bantu population is illiterate
98% of the Bantu population lives below the poverty line
78% of the Bantu is either ill and/or underweight.
The possibility of life has become the probabilities of death for many Somali Bantu Children. They must grow up in an environmen that perpetuates poverty, child labor, illiteracy, and early death. Is this what we want the children of Somali Bantu to contribute to the global community? The Somali Bantu Children’s Foundation is answering NO to that question everyday, promoting Bantu’s plight inside the country and in refugee camps. SBCF is hoping for a better life for Somali Bantu children.
Faduma Muse Nur, Founder of the organization is a dedicated woman whose work includes saving, feeding, and educating the poorest people in Somalia. The driving force behind the incredible work of SBCF is Faduma, a relentless advocate for the needy and suffering children of the Somali Bantu inside and outside of the country.
